Africans with English names are mentally enslaved — KKD

Ghanaian broadcaster Kwesi Kyei Darkwah popularly known as KKD has blasted Africans who bear English names.

Speaking on Zylofon Fm, the celebrated broadcaster said Africans with English names are mentally enslaved.

According to him as an African, having an English name forced on your ancestors shows you are not really free from slavery.

He said the names were forced on our ancestors to erase their culture so bearing English name now means Europeans still control you as slave.

“Are our names so evil? Are they so bad that because you want to go to church, somebody has to change your name? I don’t understand it. So I insisted on using Kwasi Kyei Darwkah to make a statement that the first name is not English, the middle name is not English and the last names certainly not English,” he said.

“Emancipate yourself from mental slavery. None but ourselves can free our minds.

Think of your ancestors who were whipped on the back and forced to accept another man’s names. Why then in freedom do I still want to fall into that trap and call myself by another man’s name. Whatever they do elsewhere, we can do same here but we don’t have to be like them because we are we and they are they,” he said while singing Bob Marley’s song, ‘Redemption Song’

Ghanaian named among top world scientists

A Ghanaian and Founder of the Nobel International Business School in Accra, Professor Kwaku Atuahene-Gima, has been named as one among the top two per cent scientists in the world. The most coveted and prestigious list of World Ranking of top two per cent scientists published on October 16, 2020, featured Professor Atuahene-Gima of the Nobel International Business School (NiBS), one of only two universities in Ghana with faculty on the list. Boko Haram Slaughters 43 Farmers in Nigeria, Destroys Rice Farms

Suspected Boko Haram members have slaughtered 43 farmers at a rice plantation in Borno State, Nigeria. The insurgents were also said to have destroyed the rice plantation after slaughtering all the farmers in yet another major attack in the state. Reacting to the dastardly slaughter of the farmers, Amnesty International in a tweet condemned the targeting of civilians, saying it shows the group’s contempt for human life. The body, therefore, urged Boko Haram to “end its campaign of vicious and unlawful killings of civilians”. Even though details are still sketchy, the attack has triggered anger in several communities fearful of the worsening insecurity in the state and the country generally.  Nigerians have vented their anger on social media condemning the government for its apparent failure to secure lives of its citizens.
